NZ Part 2. In early December 2005 I hiked the Routeburn Track, one of New Zealand's "Great Walks". During the 3-day trip I stayed in two different huts run by the Department of Conservation.

andrewg > Moss. Much of the first and last day of the track carries you through rain forest, and there's lots of moss growing on everything.
andrewg > A waterfall. This has no name, it's just a random unmarked stream of water that appears after rain. There are gazillions of these along the track, all around you. They took my breath away, every time.
andrewg > When it rains, the track can get very muddy. The track builders often cut these sluices along the track and slightly angled the trail itself so the water would go into the ditch and not flow down the track itself.
