NZ Part 2. In early December 2005 I hiked the Routeburn Track, one of New Zealand's "Great Walks". During the 3-day trip I stayed in two different huts run by the Department of Conservation.

andrewg > Looking back down at the trail from Mackenzie Hut. After passing through the forest, it crosses the bush line above which no trees grow. You can see the switchbacks carved into the mountainside as the track climbs.

andrewg > My backpack contemplates the scenery. I let it absorb the view while I ate a snack.

andrewg > Andrew on the Routeburn Track. After just two days on the track I could already feel myself feeling physically and mentally better than I've felt in a very long time.
