andrewg > The trail out of Routeburn Falls Hut at the start of my third day. It was raining. A lot. The trail was wet. And muddy.

andrewg > Jackie and Jonnie at Routburn Falls Hut, though those probably aren't their names. We agreed within seconds of meeting that we would tell each other nothing of our real lives, but instead only from fantasy lives. We had a lot of fun! They were both imaginative and full of good humor.
andrewg > The view from burners at Routeburn Falls Hut. The eating area is just below, and the giant windows look out on the moutains and valleys below. If the hut had been designed with endless money and resources it couldn't have been in a more beautiful spot with a more inspiring view.

andrewg > My first view of Routeburn Falls Hut, positioned just after two waterfalls on the Route Burn, with a commanding view of the valley below. Each day when I caught sight of that evening's hut I had strongly mixed feelings. Part of me felt very happy to have made it and anticipated taking off my pack and just relaxing. Another part was sad that the day's hiking was over. As heavy as my pack was, as steep as the trails became, I still loved it!
